A Branch Closure Checklist for Smart Business Router Campaigns

Start with the customer who still has the old card

A branch can close while its printed cards, window signs, and mail pieces remain in circulation. Before changing a routing destination, decide what a customer scanning an old asset needs to know. A working link alone is not enough if it sends someone to an office that can no longer help.

Inventory the affected entry points

List each campaign, its current destination, the branch it represents, and the person responsible for updating it. Include QR codes, NFC assets, website buttons, and saved links. Mark which destinations are editable and which materials need replacement. Keep a copy of the current mapping so a mistaken change can be reversed.

Explain the change before asking for action

For a planned closure, consider a short destination page that names the closed branch and explains where customers can get help. Show the replacement location and contact options clearly. Do not silently redirect a review request to a different branch as though that branch provided the original service.

Test both familiar and unexpected paths

When planning Smart Business Router rules, test a customer near the former branch, a customer outside the area, and a customer who chooses a location manually. Confirm which fallback behavior your setup supports before relying on it. Ask a staff member unfamiliar with the change to follow an old printed asset and describe where they landed.

Give the change an owner

Record the update date and a contact for routing problems. Recheck the old assets after the change goes live, including the phone number and form destination. Bizinga can help map the campaign and destination changes before the branch transition.
